Castle Basher

Castle Basher is a single-player roguelike set in a fantasy space. The game takes place in the Kingdom of Uld once blessed by Gods but an evil was awoken. Do you dare to uncover a plot started in the Kingdom's last war, will the Goddess’s protection last or will you succumb to the evil? Castle Basher will be a playable game for the Florida Polytechnic Game Expo on December 3. 

Game Mechanic

The Goddess’s acolytes forged a way for the common rabble to become closer to the Goddess and receive her Blessing through unorthodox methods but beware of incurring the Goddess’s wraith.

Story Setting

The Kingdom of Uld is a holy land blessed by Goddess Spes. Under the Divine Protection of Goddess Spes, Uld prospers not through War or even merchants but the hope of a better tomorrow. Each King was hand chosen for their virtue by the Goddess through priests and clergymen who revered her. Since the kingdom never traded beyond its borders, it was a solitary and isolated Country with little news and even littler cares of the rest of the world. Bordered by the Coast, an eerie forest keeps the world out and citizens in.

The Coast, abandon and cluttered with debris from old wars, with an almost peaceful sea marching to the horizon. The Sewers, neglected holds for evil to fester and brew, home to scum and defiled beings. No one comes down here unless for a reason, an evil reason.

The Town, a bustling populace that has forgotten the scars of War, is ruled over by a mysterious castle that no one dares approach for no return. Recently more kidnappings have been happening. “What are the knights doing?”

The Castle, a mysterious and beautiful royal palace boasting grand gardens, has now been overgrown and trapped in a sinister aura. Once thought abandoned, smoke and sound now rise night and day. The Old Guard can be seen working but for who? The King of Uld died after the last Great War. “Where is that smell coming from, the Sewers?”

The King of Uld was a Righteous man. He wanted to win the War to stop further bloodshed, a noble idea. But many old men rumored that the King through away his holiness and adopted a sinister evil, harvesting battlefields for parts and souls for a grand plan. Those old men must be crazy, for the War was over quickly, and peace befell the land…… However, with the ominous castle coming back to life, maybe they were right. “Did the King sell his soul for peace, and what of this grand plan?”
